NOTES

Mission Statement: “The mission of the Scorpion Cheer club is to promote pride at Nevada State College in the form of a spirit squad, as well as, to compete successfully as a worthy competitive team.”

1. Call to Order – 10:14 a.m.

2. Approval of Minutes

3. Captain’s Report
                          -No tryouts/ welcoming anyone willing to join & stay dedicated
                          -We are to be a competitive team

4. Business
         a. Short Term Goals (This Semester)
  -Conditioning is our focus. We will meet as a team & together will work strengthening or bodies, improving or jumps/kicks/flexibility & building stunt groups.* Building our skills in order to become worthy competitors*
-Our prospective practice days are Sundays: 3-5 p.m. & Mondays 6-8 p.m. However these days may be subject to change according to everyone’s availability.
-We will be getting shirts made for the team. A few designs will be presented & the team will vote on which they like best.
-Fundraising. We will need to pay for our competitions, uniforms & any other expenses that arise so fundraising is important.
                        -Carwash (the week of 10/8-10/12)
                        -Selling snack food at LAS
                        -We are open to any ideas
       b. Long Term Goals (Next Semester)
                          -We have two competitions we’ll strive to participate in
                                                - Gold Rush Best and West Mini Nationals (May 18th)
                                                -Jams Fest National Series (April 13-14)
  -Uniforms:
-Ordering from Varsity & will only get the uniform (skirt, shell, bloomers, shoes, poms & bows)
-To keep as little from coming out of our own pockets because uniforms can get expensive, fundraising is important!     
       c. Practice Facility
                          -Foothill H.S.
                                               -We will utilize their track, including bleachers.
                          -Gyms: Gymcats or Las Vegas Elements
-Currently working with them to use their facilities for open gym
-Tumbling is a big part of Competition Cheer, and although it is not required to join the club, we may begin taking classes as a team
-LVE offers complete choreography (routine, stunts, formations, music) so we may take advantage of that in order to have a foundation. Then maybe tweak it a little to suit our capabilities.
                                               
d. School Events
                          -Halloween Event
                                                -Fundraising opportunity & we will have our own booth
                          -Thanksgiving Parade
-We have the option of making a float but we’ll probably create a repetitive routine and dance down the street in the parade.
                          -Football Games!
                                                -This Sunday (9/30) & every Sunday at 11a.m.
                                                -Location: All American Sports Park
                                                            Buffalo Drive and Oakey Boulevard
                                                            Las Vegas, NV 89117
-Wear any NSC Spirit Shirt. They may be purchased the book store
-The team will sit together, watch the game & cheer on our Scorpions!

6. Final thoughts
Between the President, Vice President & Advisors, we’ve got an excellent team of leaders dedicated to the success of this club. We won’t let you guys down!
